Alpha
For those who are exploring the Christian faith, we invite them to take another step in knowing God by attending an Alpha course. In this course, we share a meal together on a Sunday evening and have discussions on basic questions like "Christianity and Jesus - Are they relevant?" In this eight-week course attendees have a chance to get to know others in a large and small group settings, including a retreat we call the “weekend away”, and have had open discussions about spirituality and the questions of life. Courses typically begin in September and March of each year.

One on One Discipleship
Got a PIG? The invitation Jesus gives us to "Follow Me", makes the Christian life not so much a religion as a life-style. The main way we answer the invitation to become a “follower” at New Hope is to get our very own “PIG” or plan for individual growth. You can get one at Guest Central on Sunday morning or at the New Hope office, or through a small group leader. When you fill out your PIG, you will be choosing your own mentor and deciding on your “next steps” with God. Our mentors are like a mirror for us to help us see what we might miss on our own. Like it says in James 1:23-24,
“… if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror, for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.”

Small Groups
At New Hope we believe that being connected through relationships with other believers in a small group is the place where real “church” happens. These groups form the core of our pastoral care network, as each small group leader works with a Coach who is trained in this ministry. Groups are formed as the Lord draws leaders to this ministry while those on staff take on a role of support, equipping and accountability for each group leader. For more information on small groups, or other growth opportunities contact Paul Blom at paul@newhopecambridge.org for details.

Prayer Ministry
New Hope has team who is trained and experienced in prayer and spiritual warfare ministry. They are available for appointments by calling the church number and leaving your contact information at extension 12. Members of the team are also available on Sunday mornings for ministry after each service.

Membership, Dedication & Baptism
For those who desire to know more about being part of the family at New Hope, we have a Membership Class that covers topics such as our vision, Strategic Plan, mission, statement of faith, approach to spiritual gifts, and leaving the “audience” mentality for a recruitment approach in the local Church. Many who go through this class make a decision to affirm their connection here not only as members of the Body of Christ, but as “members” of our local New Hope family.

Baptism and child dedication are each celebrated at least three times per year, with baptisms in August, January and April, and dedications on Mother’s Day and two other Sundays during the year. In baptism we celebrate the moving of a person’s own decision to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and with dedication we celebrate the parents’ commitment to raise a child in the shadow of their own faith walk. With each of these we commit ourselves to support the person, and prepare for the event by going through a class, or appointment with one of our staff.

For more information on any of these, contact New Hope Discipleship Pastor, Bob Roby, at our office, 763 552-7979, ext. 12.

Living Free
New Hope has been training people in small group development since before it’s launch in September of 2004 through Turning Point’s “Living Free” training program. We run an open class on Sunday mornings, as well as offer a full day training at least annually. This course equips both leaders and participants in the small group environment, and is specially designed to provide a format for the close relationships that are formed in home-based groups. The Living Free program is headed by Paul Blom, 763 444-7974.

Serving Teams
New Hope has many teams that work together to make ministry happen, including “Pit Crew” (Set up team for Sunday Morning), “Hospitality Team” (Greeters and Refreshments) Worship Team, and Sunday Morning Tech Crew, to name a few. If you are interested in helping ministry happen at New Hope, call Dina at the office (763 552-7979) and she will connect you with the right person!
